On this tutorial, we’ll learn how to make a dropper loop. This is normally used on dropshot rigs, where the weight is on the bottom and you have one or more hooks above. These type of rigs are best used for bottom fishing and they are effective in both saltwater and freshwater environments. Although I don’t normally use this type of knot very often, it is worth knowing how to make them. For one, the dropper loop is a bit stronger than my favorite knot for a dropshot which is based on a surgeon’s knot with two turns. Even Though it is a fairly easy to do the knot, I don’t use it a lot because it is kind of hard to do in low light situations and I do a lot of fishing at night.
